Ingush resident detained on suspicion of supplying militants with foodstuffs

In Ingushetia, a 29-year-old resident of the Sunzha District is detained on suspicion of arms trafficking and aiding and abetting members of the armed underground. According to the police, the suspect provided the members of the armed underground with foodstuffs.

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), during operational and search activities carried out in the house of the suspect, field investigators seized an AK-74 submachine gun and a Beretta pistol with ammunition.

"According to the police, in 2013, the man provided assistance to members of illegal armed formations (IAFs) operating in the territory of the region in the form of supply of food and basic necessities," reports the website of the Chief Department for the North-Caucasian Federal District (NCFD) of the MIA.

A criminal case has been instituted against the detained man on charges of arms trafficking and aiding and abetting members of the IAF. The sanctions of the above articles of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation provide up to 10 years of imprisonment.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported about other cases of opening criminal proceedings against residents of Ingushetia on charges of aiding and abetting militants. So, in July, Ayub Idigov, a 24-year-old resident of the Sunzha District, was sentenced to five years of imprisonment.
