Russian SC cancels decision on liquidation of "EcoWatch"

The Russian Supreme Court (SC) has considered the appeal filed by the "Ecological Watch on Northern Caucasus" (EcoWatch) against the decision of the Supreme Court of Adygea to liquidate the organization and cancelled the decision of the court of first instance.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in April 2014, the Department for the Republic of Adygea of the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) suspended activities of the "EcoWatch". On November 21, 2014, the Supreme Court of Adygea announced the decision to liquidate the organization. On February 11, the Russian Supreme Court began to consider the appeal of the "EcoWatch". The court hearing was postponed till March 11 at the request of Andrei Rudomakha, the head of the "EcoWatch", who stated that all the violations pointed out by the MoJ's Department for Adygea had been already eliminated.

On April 15, the Russian SC terminated the proceedings in the case, the "Interfax-Yug" reports.

"The Ministry of Justice has withdrawn its claim, the violations were eliminated, and thus, the SC cancelled the decision on the liquidation of the 'EcoWatch'. The proceedings in the case have been terminated," Andrei Rudomakha has stated as quoted by the "RAPSI" (Russian Agency of Legal and Judicial Information).
