Investigators receive results of examinations in murder case of Gyumri family
The Investigating Committee (IC) of Armenia has reported that they received the results of the forensic examinations related to the massacre of the Avetisyan family in the city of Gyumri.
On January 12, in Gyumri, six members of the Avetisyan family were assassinated. The only survivor of the attack – the six-month-old Sergey Avetisyan – was hospitalized in critical condition and on January 19, he died. A Russian regular soldier Valery Permyakov was arrested as a suspect of committing the massacre. He is kept under reinforced guard in the territory of the 102nd Russian military base. According to the Investigating Committee (IC) of Armenia, Permyakov officially admitted the charges against him.
According to the results of the forensic examinations, six members of the family were shot dead; the seventh one – the six-month-old Sergey Avetisyan (born in 2014) – died from wounds inflicted by a sharp piercing-cutting object, the above source told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent on April 3.
The examination results, obtained to date, evidence the guilt of Valery Permyakov, a serviceman of the Russian military base; however, the main issue is in the motive of this brutal murder, the "Epress.am" news agency reports with reference to the lawyer Lusine Sahakyan, who is representing the victims' interests.
