Examination finds no extremism in memory ribbons on anniversary of Caucasian War

Circassian activists have back their memory ribbons dated to the 150^th anniversary of the end of the Caucasian War: the examination has found no extremism in them.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the on May 16, 2014, Beslan Teuvazhev, an activist of the organization "Adygekhem Ya Duney" and one of the organizers of the campaign to produce commemorative ribbons dedicated to the 150^th anniversary of the end of the Caucasian War, was detained. The police confiscated over 70,000 ribbons from him and sent them to examination.

Now, Beslan Teuvazhev told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that all the ribbons were returned to him on March 30.

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent received explanations from Aslan Beshto, the chairman of the public movement "Kabardian Congress", that the commemorative ribbons are a symbol and reminder of the tragedy that occurred with Circassian nationals.

"The tragedy that occurred with Circassians stands alone even against the background of the brutal epoch. The Circassian national movement has spent a lot of money and effort at all levels so that the tragedy was not forgotten, and was a warning against any relapse of those events. The commemorative ribbons, made under the initiative of the Circassian youth, are also a symbol and a reminder of the tragedy," he said.
