Part of Malgobek is in flooding zone

The streets of the eastern part of the city of Malgobek in Ingushetia are at risk of flooding because of the rise of ground water, said Akhmed Dodov, the head of the city administration.

The flooding threats the houses in the so-called "Sobachovka" district, in particular, in Gardanov, Akhriev, Trudovaya and other streets. According to Dodov, the problem of flooding of the eastern part of the city dates back to the 1980s, and it becomes more widespread; therefore, experts from other regions were invited to analyze the situation in Malgobek.

"It was established that the rise of the water table in this part of the city is in much associated with the filtration of the nearby Alkhan-Churt Canal and the presence of a pond here," the ITAR-TASS quotes Mr Dodov as saying.

According to experts' recommendations, the pond in the eastern part of Malgobek should be liquidated; it is also necessary to build sewers and replace worn-out water mains, reports the website of the Republic of Ingushetia.
