Only handful of Chechen refugees voted in State Duma elections

The monitoring conducted on Sunday, December 7, by activists of the Human Rights Center "Memorial" and the Regional Public Movement "Chechen National Rescue Committee" at some temporary accommodation centers in Ingushetia, including tent camps "Alina" (Ordzhonikidzevskaya village), "Kolos", and "Bart" (Karabulak), revealed no election activity among displaced persons from the Chechen Republic on the day of the elections for the Russian State Duma.

90 thousand people belonging to the afore-mentioned group are known to have a voting right. By human rights activists' preliminary estimate, the turnout did not reach even 1% of the displaced persons from Chechnya living in Ingushetia.
