Chechen Election Commission proclaimed results of republican presidential elections

Yesterday the Chechen Election Commission proclaimed results of the republican presidential elections held on October 5.

According to the data of the Chechen Election Commission, 499,325 voters took part in the elections, 569,349 people being on the voter lists. So voters' attendance rate came to 87.80%. The votes were distributed among the contenders in the following way: Akhmat Kadyrov - 403,490 (80.84%); Abdula Bugayev - 28,843 (5.77%); Shamil Burayev - 19,694 (3.95%); Husein Biybulatov - 8,244 (1.65%); Kudus Saduyev - 7,667 (1.54%); Nikolay Payzulayev - 4,387 (0.88%), and Ovukhat Khanchukayev - 2,688 (0.54%). 12,906 people (2.59%) voted against all the contenders.

"The Election Commission of the Chechen Republic has not received complaints and applications on breaches of the electoral legislation that could have influenced voters' will", reads a resolution promulgated by the commission. On the strength of the foregoing and in compliance with article 65 of the Law of the Chechen Republic "On the Elections of the President of the Chechen Republic", the Election Commission resolved to consider the elections of the President of Chechnya to be taken place and to declare Akhmad Kadyrov President of the Chechen Republic elect.

The resolution is signed by Chechen Election Commission chairman Arsakhanov and Election Commission secretary Sadykov.
