Kurds in Armenia are holding hunger strike

Members of the Kurd community of Armenia are holding a hunger strike. On September 3 they went into the street adjoining the organization's office and performed a symbolical dance.

As the head of the committee "Kurdistan" in Armenia Charkyashe Rash reported, this dance has a specific meaning and symbolizes firmness of mind. According to Rash's words, it was initially planed to hold the whole hunger-strike action publicly. But they were late to receive the appropriate authorization of the city administration. The next action, he informed, is scheduled for September 14. About 30 people are taking part in the hunger strike.

It should be reminded that the Kurdistan Workers Party (KWR) declared on September 1 about the cessation of the truce with Turkey that had been declared four years ago. The Party demands that international experts examined the state of health of the Party's leader Abdullah Ocalan and the acts of violence in respect of Kurdish population be stopped.
