Ministry for Press was disbanded in Chechnya

On Tuesday evening, Prime Minister of Chechnya Anatoly Popov signed the edict on disbandment of the Ministry for Press, TV and Radio Broadcasting and Mass Media Communications and the Ministry for Nationalities of the Chechen Republic. A high-ranking source in the Chechen government alleged that the Ministry for National Policy, Information, and Regional Relations was created on the basis of these two ministries.

It should be noted that in the end of August Bislan Gantamirov, who had headed the Chechen Ministry for Press until yesterday, appeared at a news conference in Moscow with the declaration that he supported Husain Dzhabrailov in the Chechen presidential elections. Dzhabrailov withdrew his candidacy yesterday.
