Names of separatists who killed mufti of Vedeno district are known

Chechnya's security services know names of the murderers of Shamkhan Madagov, a mufti of the Vedeno district. It was reported at the press center of the Russian Interior Ministry in the Northern Caucasian region. Masterminds behind the crime have been also established.

The murder of the Moslem cleric has caused a storm of anger in Chechnya. Government officials and representatives of the clergy took part in the funeral of Madagov, noted the press center. They believe that the murder of the mufti must have been ordered.

A 30-member band entered the village of Elistanzhi on Sunday night and encircled the house of Madagov. The bandits led the family of Madagov to the courtyard and shot him before the very eyes of his wife and children. They set the house on fire and rode away in cars.

The press center said there is no police in the village, as it is located not far from a city, and bandits acted without fear to meet a rebuff.
