Nagorny Karabah is in need of lawyers specialized in journalists' rights defense

A training for young lawyers took place in Stepanakert on August 30-31. It was organized by Stepanakert's Press Club and the Artsakh Human Rights Association within the limits of the project of the international organization "Article 19" - "Encouragement of Democracy in the Southern Caucasus through Freedom of Speech" with the financial support of the Open Society Institute and the Foreign Ministry of Great Britain.

As Stepanakert's Press Club Head Gegam Bagdasarian reported, 12 young lawyers, including graduate students of law schools, participated in the training. "Our republic is in need of qualified specialists, particularly lawyers specializing in journalists' rights defense. Experts invited from the international organization "Article 19" gave lectures and practical training in such subjects as legislative regulation of informational area, defense of journalists' rights, court examination practice", noted Gegam Bagdasarian.
