Precedent was established in Dudinka: court sided to member of Azerbaijan diaspora in case against regional police department head

A precedent was established in Dudinka when a court sided to a member of the Azerbaijan diaspora in a case against the regional police department head. The matter is that regional police department head Zakharov made actions against the citizen of Azerbaijan estimated as "insulting".

On May 19, 2003, the court returned Zakharov guilty of crime commitment and, taking into consideration his former services and government honors, fined him as a penalty. Then there was an appeal to an ordinary court. Then the sentence was vacated. Now the appeal of the victim and his case is brought to the regional court for a new trial. The first sitting of the regional court will take place on August 28.

Azerbaijanians inspired with the court's unbiased attitude to their problems and not simple interrelations with the law-enforcement system has decided to carry the case to its logical conclusion and prove that they are right, down to the Supreme Court of Russia.

The Azerbaijan diaspora of the Krasnodar region has already gained support on this issue from 22 regional national communes, including Russian one.
