Peacekeepers: over 1700 refugees return to Nagorno-Karabakh

Over 24 hours, 648 refugees arrived in Stepanakert from Armenia, and in total, 1709 people returned to the city. The Russian Ministry of Defence (MoD) has deployed seven more peacekeeping observer posts in Nagorno-Karabakh than planned, the Russian MoD reports.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on November 10, the agreement between Russia, Azerbaijan, and Armenia on the cessation of the hostilities in Nagorno-Karabakh came into force. Today, Nagorno-Karabakh President Araik Arutyunyan has said that gas, electricity, water, and mobile communications will be supplied to local residents free of charge throughout the year. The President of Nagorno-Karabakh has noted that the authorities will be engaged in the restoration of houses, and people who have lost their homes will receive payments and compensation for rented accommodation. However, not all refugees are ready to return, because they are not sure that they will be safe and do not know how to restore their households affected by shelling attacks. In Armenia, the authorities promised to provide the refugees with financial assistance.

The "Caucasian Knot" has drafted a map to show the territories that will pass over to Azerbaijan after the autumn war. Also, the "Caucasian Knot" has published a deployment map of the Russian peacekeepers in Nagorno-Karabakh.

Four columns with refugees have returned to Nagorno-Karabakh, reports Major General Igor Konashenkov, the spokesman for the Russian Ministry of Defence. According to him, the ceasefire regime is being observed along the entire line of contact.
