Nagorno-Karabakh accuses Azerbaijan of shelling Martakert and Martuni Districts

The city of Martakert and its neighbouring villages were exposed to missile attacks, which did not stop during October 21, the authorities of Nagorno-Karabakh have reported. Artillery was also used in the direction of the city of Martuni and the village of Ger-Ger.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 21, Azerbaijan and Armenia exchanged accusations of strikes against civilians. Armenia is shelling the city of Terter and the Terter District, the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defence (MoD) has reported. The Armenian side has claimed Azerbaijan's strikes on Martakert and the nearby villages.

"On October 21, the armed forces of Azerbaijan used artillery in the direction of the district centre of Martuni and the Ger-Ger village of the Martuni District, inflicting material damage to the civilian population and significant damage to buildings," said Unan Tadevosyan, an employee of the Armenian emergency service.

He has stressed that "the Azerbaijani armed forces are using types of weapons prohibited by international bodies against the civilian population."

At night on October 21, the situation in the conflict zone was relatively tense; at night, armed clashes and artillery attacks continued in some areas, the MoD of Nagorno-Karabakh has stated.
