Dagestani activists point to break in epidemic situation

The monitoring conducted by activists in districts and cities of Dagestan has shown that the situation with coronavirus infection and community-acquired pneumonia has stabilized.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in early May, Dagestani activists criticized the republic's authorities for the results of their countering coronavirus and set up the "People's Headquarters" to combat the pandemic.

The situation with coronavirus and community-acquired pneumonia in Dagestan has stabilized, Vagab Kazibekov, the head of the "People's Headquarters", has voiced out the conclusions based on information from various districts of Dagestan.

The acute problem of equipping doctors with protective means in most cases was solved through charity, federal money; and often doctors themselves bought such means, Mr Kazibekov has noted.

Mair Pashaev, a member of the above headquarters, agrees with the conclusion that the situation with coronavirus and community-acquired pneumonia in Dagestan has stabilized.

"The epidemic is on decline; and federal help was just in time," Mr Pashaev told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent. According to his story, the majority of outbreaks in villages and cities of Dagestan occurred in mid-May; and at the moment there are no such outbreaks.

The issue of deficit of medicines and protective means, which was acute at the initial stage of the epidemic, was resolved by the end of May, Mair Pashaev has added.
