NAC reports about six killed militants in Dagestan

Six militants were killed in a special operation in the Khasavyurt District, when they rendered resistance while law enforcers tried to detain them, the National Antiterrorist Committee (NAC) reported.

On Friday, law enforcers entered a shootout with suspected militants in a forest between the villages of Goksuv and Mutsalaul. A law enforcer was wounded, sources report.

When the law enforcers tried to detain the suspected militants, the suspects opened fire from machine guns and used grenades, and the law enforcers found firearms and ammunition at the place of the incident, the NAC reported.

"According to the reports, the militants were connected with the 'Islamic State' (IS, a terrorist organization banned in the Russian Federation by the court). The suspects were plotting attacks on law enforcers and religious figures, as well as extortion of money from entrepreneurs to finance their activities," the RIA "Novosti" reports with reference to the NAC.
