Instagram users point to illegality of seizing land plots from Grozny residents

By having ordered to seize untended land plots in Grozny, Ramzan Kadyrov encroaches on the private property right, some Instagram users believe, while others consider that by such measures, the Chechen authorities are solving the pressing city problem.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Ramzan Kadyrov had instructed the Grozny Mayoralty to seize the private houses that look untended, if the owners thereof refuse to put them in order. The officials' plans have worried Grozny residents.

In its Instagram page, the "Caucasian Knot" asked its readers a question of whether it is permissible to confiscate untended property from townspeople. Opinions of the social network users differed.

"According to Russian legislation, this is simply impossible," wrote the user maks.gutman. "There are no such rights," the user zama1981_6_04 believes. "Private property is inviolable; or it should be bought out at the price that suits the owner," said the user darrrk__00.

Other users spoke on the opposite. "I think Kadyrov is right," the user tamilla_1_1 answered the question of the "Caucasian Knot". "Such an instruction helps to wake up those owners of untended land plots and clean them, and not wait for the city services to come and do it for them," said the user atam_kh_.
