OSCE mission registers no shelling attacks in Karabakh conflict zone

OSCE mission members reported on the calm situation in the Karabakh conflict zone amid a statement about machine gun attacks claimed by Azerbaijan. The Azerbaijani side has failed to fulfil the obligation to conduct monitoring, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Nagorno-Karabakh reports.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the parties to the Karabakh conflict regularly accuse each other of violating the ceasefire. So, this morning, Azerbaijan has announced 23 shelling attacks on its positions within 24 hours. Nagorno-Karabakh, which releases summaries of ceasefire violation reports once a week, registered 125 shelling attacks from the direction of Azerbaijan in the period from January 5 to 11.

The MFA of Nagorno-Karabakh reported on the monitoring held today by the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) mission on the border with Azerbaijan north-east of Akna (Agdam). According to the Nagorno-Karabakh MFA, no violations have been detected.

"The Azerbaijani side did not bring the OSCE mission to its forefront, but the monitoring was conducted in accordance with the schedule," reported the MFA of Nagorno-Karabakh as translated from Armenian by the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent. However, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) of Azerbaijan also reported about the OSCE monitoring conducted today in the Agdam District. It "ended without any incidents," the Azerbaijani MoD reports on its official website.
