Azerbaijani rights defender Ogtai Gyulyalyev operated on for the third time

Doctors of the Istanbul clinic have conducted a surgery on the Azerbaijani rights defender, Ogtai Gyulyalyev, who was injured in a road accident. Doctors find it difficult to name the time when he will regain consciousness, his son has informed.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 29, 2019, Ogtai Gyulyalyev, the head of the public alliance "Azerbaijan without Political Prisoners", was hit by a car after his press conference, at which he spoke about the future campaign against torture. On January 6, his wife said that he began perceiving what was happening around.

Despite the positive dynamics, observed since mid-December 2019, he has so far "weakly responded to the drugs that return sensitivity," Ali Gyulyalyev, Ogtai's son, has reported, adding that doctors are cautious in their forecasts.

Ali has informed that there are no problems with financing his father's treatment; the funds continue to be allocated by the Geidar Aliev Fund.

Adil Geibulla, a doctor, has noted that the treatment of patients with the problems such as those of Ogtai Gyulyalyev can take months.
