NCO activists consider the domestic violence prevention bill to be a "raw" document

A roundtable held in Makhachkala has discussed how the state and businesses can help the women that occurred in difficult situations. The activists of non-commercial organizations (NCOs) interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot" believe that the bill on the prevention of domestic violence has many shortcomings.

The Association of Family Protection Organizations (AFPO), which includes 90 Russian family-oriented NCOs in Russia, is rendering the methodological, informational and other support to members of the Association working with young and large families.

According to Zalina, a representative of the "Warm Home on the Mountain", her centre is implementing a new project, "Let's Dress Up for a New Life", in which women in difficult situations will be trained in sewing.

Most often, the police are not eager to initiate a criminal case, despite the fact that they receive plenty of applications from domestic violence victims, Evgenia Velichkina, the director of one of the shelters, has stated.

According to Tatiana Savina, a lawyer of the "Legal Initiative" project, it is very important that the whole society pay attention to the problem of domestic violence and help victims thereof.

Kira Vasilieva, the head of the "Nadezhda" (Hope) women's social movement from the Krasnodar Territory, believes that, despite the conflicting comments, the merit of the new bill is the introduction of protective orders. She has also criticized the viewpoint that one should not interfere in the internal family's matters.
