Law enforcers gather data of parishioners of Makhachkala mosque

On December 20, law enforcers conducted their regular raid near the "Tangim" Mosque in Makhachkala. In the opinion of journalist, Idris Yusupov, the data collection has to do with the so-called "prophylactic registration".

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that law enforcers are regularly conducting their Friday raids in the vicinity of the "Tangim" Mosque in Makhachkala, explaining this by their concerns for citizens' safety.

On December 20, law enforcers' mobile posts were in three places, which allowed them to check a significant part of the cars departing from the mosque. Next to law enforcers in uniform, at all three posts, there were people in civilian clothes. Believers' cars were stopped; and law enforcers put down personal data of believers. Several dozens of law enforcers took part in the raid, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent, who was present at the venue, has reported.

One of the believers said that later those, whose personal data are recorded during such raid, have talks with their district policemen.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Dagestan denies that the raids are directly related to the "Tangim" Mosque, but in reality these measures are aimed at intimidating the believers, Idris Yusupov is convinced. "We all understand that this is a procedure related to data verification and registration for placing people under 'prophylactic registration'," Mr Yusupov has stated.
