Czech Republic allows extradition of Serzh Sargsyan's nephew

The Czech Ministry of Justice (MoJ) has approved the request of Armenia to extradite Narek Sargsyan, accused of possessing drugs and weapons. This was reported by Arevik Khachatryan, the press secretary of the General Prosecutor's Office (GPO) of Armenia.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Narek Sargsyan was detained in Prague on December 6, 2018.

Let us remind you that in July 2018, law enforcers found drugs and weapons in the apartment of Narek Sargsyan, a nephew of the third President of Armenia, Serzh Sargsyan. The search was carried out in connection with suspicions that Narek Sargsyan had obtained by deceit some drawings of the famous painter Martiros Saryan.

Serzh Sargsyan, the third president of Armenia, is also under investigation. On December 4, he was accused of misappropriating more than a million US dollars. His defence has claimed a violation of the president's immunity. The criminal case against Sargsyan may be related to his political activities, political analysts believe.

Other relatives of Serzh Sargsyan were also prosecuted; in particular, in July, a court arrested in absentia Ara Minasyan, Serzh Sargsyan's son-in-law, on charges of a major fraud at a Yerevan Medical Centre.
