Chechen native complains about pressure in colony

Beslan Dadaev, a convicted native of Chechnya, said that in his colony in Karelia he was not allowed to pray. According to his sister, Dadaev was beaten up, placed into the dungeon (punishment cell) and prevented from making ablutions because he refused to cooperate with the colony administration.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in August 2013, Beslan Dadaev's relatives claimed that he had been pressed by the colony staff in Karelia.

According to Dadaev, from June 26 on, protocols were drawn up against him for performing his night ablutions.

Zina Dadaeva, his sister said that her brother was arrested in 2002 on charges of murder and convicted in May 2003.

"They demanded from him to sneak on others, but he refused," said the sister, adding that they are trying in every way to provoke the brother to use physical force against anyone.

"Other convicts pester him with obscene words. He says that it's difficult for him not to react to provocations," said Dadaeva.

We received complaints about violation of Muslims' rights from the colonies in Karelia, but after 2017, there were no such complaints, said Andrei Babushkin, the head of the Human Rights Council for Assisting POCs (Public Oversight Commissions).
