Experts report uniqueness of exhibition of 3D-models of Kala-Koreish monuments

An exposition of 3D-models of monuments from the hard-to-reach ancient village of Kala-Koreish is held in Makhachkala. This project helps not only to fix and preserve the monuments, but also contributes to popularization of them, scientists believe.

The exhibition "The Voice of Stones. Experience of reading and broadcasting Kala-Koreish heritage" is an international project of the "Peri" Charitable Fund and the museum "Dagestani Aul", Zumrud Suleimanova, the museum director, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent on June 7.

According to her story, the project has created 3D-models of copies of tombstones, mosque wooden doors and other unique artefacts of the village of Kala-Koreish.

The village is considered to be one of the first Muslim villages in Russia. Despite the unique character of Kala-Koreish, it was practically not investigated by scientists because of its hard-to-reach location. During the expedition, experts managed to scan the entire mosque, burials and ancient tombstones.

Exhibitions like "The Voice of Stones" help not only to fix and preserve monuments, but also contribute to promote them, said Vladimir Bobrovnikov, a Senior Researcher at the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

"This is a very modern type of exhibition, where not only monuments themselves and their photos are presented. It seems to me that this is a very successful exposition," Mr Bobrovnikov has concluded.
