Law enforcers organize raids near "Tangim" Mosque in Dagestan

On May 27, law enforcers conducted a raid near the "Tangim" Mosque in Makhachkala. Mobile checkpoints with about 50 law enforcers were located near the "Smolyan" restaurant and in General Omarov Street, journalist Idris Yusupov reported. The law enforcers claimed that they were conducting the operation "Fake state registration licence plates" and checked both cars and owners, believers of the "Tangim" Mosque reported. No information was reported concerning whether someone had been detained.

On May 31, another law enforcers' raid was organized near the "Tangim" Mosque. Law enforcers were checking IDs of the believers in the street leading to the mosque and were stopping the cars passing by, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reported from the place. An official from the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) reported there were several law enforcers' raids in Dagestan, including the operation "Poppy". The law enforcers stopped two drivers, put them in a car, and drove them towards a police station, but halfway let them out of the car without any explanations, said Rizvan, one of the stopped drivers. Representatives of the "Tangim" Mosque administration agreed with the heads of the law enforcement bodies that the believers of the "Tangim" Mosque would not be subjected to pressure, said Akhmed Chililov, the head of the public council of the "Tangim" Mosque.
