Security Council of South Ossetia decides to open border with Georgia

The authorities of South Ossetia announced opening the border with Georgia starting from March 15. The border crossing was closed in January because of the outbreak of swine flu.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the Security Council of South Ossetia decided to close the border with Georgia starting from January 11 to prevent the spread of the H1N1 virus (swine flu).

In Georgia, this season, the first death from swine flu was registered on December 24, 2018. By January 10, the death toll reached 13 people.

It was decided to open checkpoints on the border with Georgia on March 15, the IA "Res" reported on March 11 with reference to a source from the Security Council of South Ossetia.

The above decision was made by the Security Council "in connection with the improvement of the epidemiological situation in Georgia," the TASS reports with reference to Murat Djioev, South Ossetian plenipotentiary presidential envoy.
