Court in Chechnya postpones hearings on "Gazprom" complaint

On March 7, at the request of the Prosecutor's Office (PO), the Supreme Court (SC) of Chechnya postponed the consideration of the complaint lodged by the "Gazprom Mezhregiongaz Grozny" Company against the demand to write off gas debts to residents of the republic.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on January 16, the PO of Chechnya reported that a court in Grozny had obliged the "Gazprom" to write off "the hopeless population's gas debts" in the amount of over 9 billion roubles. The company appealed against this judgement. On January 22, the Russian General Prosecutor's Office (GPO) supported "Gazprom's" refusal to write off the debts. On February 5, the Chechen SC accepted the complaint of the "Gazprom".

Initially, the sitting on the complaint was scheduled for March 7.

The Chechen PO has removed the debt amount from the press release on the court judgement. Rustam Amerkhanov, a representative of "Gazprom Mezhregiongaz Grozny" bosses, and the head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, stated that the debt amount was not mentioned in the judgement.
