Opponents of Manvel Grigoryan want a meeting with Prime Minister

Activists have suspended their actions demanding to change the court decision on release on bail of General Manvel Grigoryan, a former MP. If Nikol Pashinyan, the chair of the government, does not meet the activists within three days, the protest actions will be resumed, says a representative of the protesters.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Manvel Grigoryan, a former member of the Armenian parliament, the head of the Yerkrapah Volunteer Union, was detained in June 2018 on suspicion of illegal arms circulation. On December 21, the court changed the pre-trial restriction measure for him from arrest to release on bail. Residents of Echmiadzin, dissatisfied with the release of Manvel Grigoryan, held protest actions. On December 24, 2018, to meet the protesters' demands, the Prosecutor's Office challenged the court decision.

Opponents of Manvel Grigoryan have suspended the protest actions in anticipation of a meeting with Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent has been informed by Jivan Abramyan, one of the protest campaign organizers.

He has explained that the activists decided to wait three days in hope for a meeting with the chair of the government.

"We will not meet anyone except Nikol Pashinyan. If the Prime Minister does not meet us within three days, we will start actions of disobedience," Jivan Abramyan has emphasized.

For the second time, the court unreasonably postpones the consideration of a complaint filed by the Prosecutor's Office, the activist has added.
