On December 17-23, two persons fell victim to armed conflict in Northern Caucasus
During the week of December 17-23, 2018, two persons perished in the course of the armed conflict in Northern Caucasus; there is no data about any wounded ones. These are the results of the calculations run by the "Caucasian Knot" based on its own materials and information from other open sources.
According to law enforcers, both casualties had been linked with the armed underground operating in the Stavropol Territory.
Special operation in Stavropol
On December 17, in Stavropol, law enforcers tried to detain two alleged militants, the territorial branch of the Russian Federal Security Bureau (FSB) has reported. According to law enforcers, in response to an offer to surrender, the suspects opened fire and tried to throw a grenade. In the course of the shootout, both attackers were killed. In the opinion of law enforcers, both were members of the "Islamic State" (IS), a terrorist organization banned in Russia by the court; and one of them had fought in Syria. According to operative data, they had planned to commit terror acts during the New Year holidays.
