Azerbaijan reports machine-gun shelling in conflict zone

During the last 24 hours, positions of Azerbaijani military servicemen deployed in the Karabakh conflict zone were shelled for 28 times, the country's Ministry of Defence (MoD) has stated today.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on December 16, Azerbaijan counted 29 attacks on its positions in the conflict zone. In its turn, Nagorno-Karabakh declared about 250 attacks on the positions of its Defence Army undertaken by Azerbaijan in the period from December 9 to December 15.

On December 16-17, the ceasefire on the troops contact line was violated for 28 times; the shelling was delivered from large-calibre machine guns, the Azerbaijani MoD has stated on its website today. The positions of Azerbaijani militaries deployed on nameless heights in the Gadabay District were shelled from Armenia; moreover, shelling was also conducted from the territories "near the occupied villages" in the Terter, Agdam and Fizuli Districts, as well as from the positions stationed on the nameless heights in the Goranboy, Terter, Agdam and Khojavend Districts, the MoD has clarified.

As of 8:40 a.m. Moscow time today, the MoDs of Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh did not comment on this statement in their websites.
