Congress of Dagestani Chechens changes tactics to add Aukh District to Chechnya

At the Congress of the Dagestani Chechens, participants voiced almost no criticism of the Dagestan authorities regarding the restoration of the Aukh District. That fact indicates a change in tactics of the Chechen side, which, instead of loud statements, began to act "at the highest level," believes Mairbek Agaev, the editor-in-chief of the newspaper "Chernovik" (Draft). A change in the borders of Chechnya could be used to study the reaction to the unification of Northern Caucasus in one subject, suggested Milrad Fatullaev, the editor-in-chief of the agency "Derbent".

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on November 25, at the tenth Congress of Dagestani Chechens, State Duma member Buvaisar Saitiev described the absence of a "mono-ethnic region" for Chechens in Dagestan as a big problem. Users of social networks pointed to the danger of aggravation of the territorial dispute and the occurrence of conflict.

Journalist Milrad Fatullaev treats the question of a mono-ethnic region as strange. According to him, the priority should be given to solve the problems of individuals with their houses and land plots and only then "the restoration of historical justice."

Meanwhile, Milrad Fatullaev has noted that the possibility of enlarging regions in Northern Caucasus is now being discussed.

The statements about the absence of a mono-ethnic region for Chechens in Dagestan can be interpreted as a signal that the Chechens who live in Dagestan want to have their representation at the municipal level to solve economic problems with the government of the republic, believes Mairbek Agaev, the editor-in-chief of the newspaper "Chernovik".
