Militaries report demining road in Chechnya

While inspecting a road in the Achkhoi-Martan District, sappers found and destroyed several dozens of explosive objects, the Chechen Military Commandant's Office (MCO) has informed.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on September 17, a unit of military sappers began inspecting a road section and searching for explosive objects in the Achkhoi-Martan District. The inspection was carried out at the request of the district administration, which feared that drivers may suffer from the ammunition remaining after the war.

Military sappers inspected a road section of about 25 kilometres near the border with Ingushetia; they found and destroyed several dozens of explosive objects, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told at the Chechen MCO today.

"Given favourable weather conditions, the command decided to continue demining lands in Chechnya until the end of November. In total, from April to November this year, about 1500 hectares of agrarian land were cleared of explosive objects in seven piedmont and mountainous districts of the republic; 4000 units of various ammunition and other explosive items were found and liquidated," the republic's MCO has reported.
