Armenian investigators treat soldier's death as suicide
After the death of Private Aristakes Azatyan in one of the central units of the Defence Army, investigators opened a case on bringing to suicide, the Investigating Committee (IC) of Armenia has stated.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on November 6, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) of Nagorno-Karabakh reported a conscript's death. Aristakes Azatyan died under unclear circumstances, the MoD stated.
A regular soldier Aristakes Azatyan committed suicide, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told at the press service of the Armenia's IC.
The criminal case was initiated under Part 1, Article 110, of the Criminal Code of Armenia (bringing a person to suicide), the IC has added.
Let us note here that, according to the Institute of Caspian Military Studies (CDSI), in Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh, in the first half of 2018, the number of non-combat losses reached 19 people, in particular, seven soldiers perished in accidents, two were killed by their colleagues, two died from diseases, one died due to breaching safety rules, and three died for other reasons.
