Chechen authorities announce settlement of region bordering Ingushetia

On November 5, at a field meeting in the Galanchozh District, Ramzan Kadyrov announced that within a year of the Galanchozh District, the municipality would carry out large-scale work to restore infrastructure and construct social and tourist facilities. The Galanchozh District will be fully electrified and gasified.

While speaking during a visit to the border area, Ramzan Kadyrov raised the issue of the agreement with Ingushetia. "As we know, Ingushetia and the Chechen Republic have signed the agreement (on borders), the law has been adopted, and the border has been determined," the leader of the republic said on the air of the "Grozny" TV Channel on November 5 (translated by the "Caucasian Knot").

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that since October 4, in Magas, the capital of Ingushetia, there was a mass action against changing the border with Chechnya, which was interrupted in order to get ready for the World Congress of the Ingush People. Today, the organizers of protest have urged the activists to complete the action and "continue acting within the legal framework."

On October 30, the Ingush Constitutional Court (CC) declared the law on the border with Chechnya unconstitutional.

According to Ramzan Kadyrov, those persons who "sowed discord" will be held criminally liable. "Once again, I want to say to those who feel concern over the issue: the border has been determined, and we have constructed a road along the border and maintain it; the area will be landscaped. Those who are talking of the opposite are provocateurs, from this side or the other," Ramzan Kadyrov said.

Starting from 2014, a special commission has been dealing with the issue concerning the restoration of the Galanchozh District, reports the administration for the leader and the government of the Chechen Republic. "Before the deportation of 1944, about 10,000 people lived there. After the return of Chechen people from exile, the people from Galanchozh were forbidden to settle in their villages," an official from of the administration for the leader and the government of the republic reminded the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

The transformations planned for 2019 will help people from the villages in the Galanchozh District to return to their small homeland, the official has noted. "Schools, hospitals and other social institutions will be built here, and people will get an opportunity to do business here. In the region, the main directions will be the development of agriculture and tourism," the official has stated.
