USA train Georgian militaries to use Javelins

The military exercise "Noble Partner-2018" ended in demonstrative training fights, during which Georgian militaries used the American Javelin anti-tank missile complex for the first time.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the multinational NATO exercises "Noble Partner-2018", began on August 1. They were completed on August 15 at the 11th shooting range in Vaziani, the Georgian MoD has reported on its website.

At the close of the exercises, demonstrative training fights took place, during which the multinational units of the regional defence needed to destroy the conventional enemy in the combat area and enable the division to carry out a counterattack. The militaries coped successfully with the operation, the report says.

During the demonstrative exercises, servicemen demonstrated the American Apache helicopters and Javelin portable anti-tank complex, which was used by Georgian militaries for the first time, the "Rustavi-2" TV Channel has reported.

In 2017, Georgia asked the USA to sell 410 Javelin missiles, 72 command-and-launch units, 10 training complexes and 70 charges for them. In November 2017, the US State Department issued a positive conclusion on the deal worth 75 million US dollars. In its turn, the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) has treated the US decision as pushing Georgia toward "new dangerous adventures."
