MfE reports reduction of queues at Russian-Georgian border

The waiting time for passage through the checkpoint on the Georgian Military Road has dropped to six hours, the Russian Ministry for Emergencies (MfE) has informed today. Tourists complained of long waiting time in the neutral strip.

The "Caucasian Knot" has informed that on August 14, the MfE reported that the waiting time on the Russian-Georgian border was ten hours, while motorists said that they had to wait for 13 hours in queues.

Tourists demanded to fire the customs officers because of queues at the Verkhniy Lars checkpoint. A petition with this demand, posted on the website "Petition to President" on July 30, as of today by 11:00 Moscow time, gathered 2601 signatures with 39 votes against.

Today, by 7:00 a.m. Moscow time, the waiting time at the above checkpoint was more than six hours, says the website of the MfE for North Ossetia.

Users of social networks complained that most of all they have to wait for crossing the neutral strip between the borders of the countries.
