Baku metro resumes operation

In the capital of Azerbaijan, a pause in the metro operation has caused problems for residents of Baku, since because of the large number of passengers, not all of them could use buses. All metro stations were opened at about 1:00 p.m. local time, the press service of the metro reported.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that blackouts which occurred on July 3 caused a pause in the metro operation in Baku.

This morning, the Baku metro has stayed closed due to reconstruction works. In that regard, all bus routes have been transferred to a special mode of operation.

At 1:10 p.m. local time, in Baku, all metro stations were opened for passengers, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed by Bakhtiyar Mamedov, the chief for the press service of the Baku metro.

Today, in connection with the pause in the metro operation, many Baku residents failed to get to their job on time, local residents stated.

"Today, buses have started arriving at stops more often. However, they are still not able to replace the metro. In the morning, I hardly got into the fourth bus and was late at work," Samira Gasanova, a nurse of the republican hospital, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
