Three Makhachkala hunger-strikers turn to doctors

Today, the drivers of fixed-route taxi minivans, who are holding hunger strike in Makhachkala called doctors twice; medical was needed to three protesters because of increased blood tension. The hunger strike has attracted the authorities' attention, but there is no result yet, the drivers have stated.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on April 27, 73 out of 100 drivers of one of the routes in Makhachkala announced a strike, because of their dissatisfaction with the working conditions established by the company servicing their route.

Today, the protesting drivers had to call an ambulance to three hunger-strikers, who felt bad because of their increased arterial tension; and doctors made the necessary injections. The hunger-strikers rejected hospitalization, as their condition was not critical, Mukhtar Saidov told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent, adding that all the 16 drivers, who began the hunger strike on May 19, continue their protest action.

Bagauddin Sultanbekov, a driver said that the hunger strike forced local authorities, who had not paid attention to the problem before, to start looking for ways out of the situation. "The authorities are reacting, but there is no result yet," he has stated.
