Volgograd residents associate deterioration of health with smog
Residents of Volgograd have complained about the deterioration of their health. They associate it with the smog observed in the city since May 6. Specialists are engaged in investigating the cause of the smog.
In Volgograd, the thick smog remains for the second day, and as a result, the city is almost invisible from the left bank of the Volga. Meanwhile, no foreign smells are felt, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports today.
Residents of Volgograd have told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that they start experiencing problems with breathing because of the smog. "The whole city is wrapped in dust. We thought it was a dust storm. However, after such storms, we usually have our whole apartment covered with the dust, but now there is nothing like that. It is hard to breathe. We do not let our children out, we do not walk in the streets with them," said Yevgeny Burkov, a resident of the Krasnooktiabrsky District.
Today, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent has been informed by an official from the City Department for Analytical and Operational Control of Environmental Quality that "the institution does not yet have any data concerning the cause of smog."
"We do not know the reason for the appearance of the smog over the city. At present, our specialists drive through the city in a specialized car and take air samples. So far, we cannot say anything definite," the official said.
