Sukhumi residents celebrate Circassian Flag Day with march and concert

In Sukhumi, participants of the events dedicated to the Circassian Flag Day listened to a thematic lecture, watched a film about the traditions of the Circassian people and marched along the streets of the city.

On April 25, all Adyg people throughout the world celebrate the Circassian Flag Day. On that date, the Circassian public activists organize horse passes, car rallies, Circassian dance games, sports and other festive events. The Circassian flag is one of the main symbols of the Adyg (Circassian) people. It represents a green rectangular field with three crossed golden arrows and 12 golden stars.

The programme dedicated to the Circassian Flag Day to be celebrated in Sukhumi on April 25 included a lot of events and started with laying of flowers in the Park of Glory to pay tribute to the memory of the volunteers killed in the Georgian-Abkhaz conflict of 1992-1993. Then the film "Circassia" was shown and a lecture dedicated to the history of the Circassian flag was held in the State Committee of Abkhazia on Repatriation.

In the evening, a festive concert was held in the square in front of the Samson Chanba Abkhazian Drama Theatre. Young people with Abkhazian and Circassian flags in their hands marched with the music from Sergey Bagapsh Square to the square in front of the Samson Chanba Abkhazian Drama Theatre.
