Two Grozny residents detained for street shooting

On April 23, Magomed Abdurzaev and a 16-year-old teenager, both residents of Grozny, were detained after the social network and the WhatsApp disseminated videos with the shooting in the centre of the city. Law enforcers seized two traumatic pistols from Magomed Abdurzaev and a gas airsoft gun from the teenager, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed by a spokesman of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) for Chechnya.

"The first video shows how a young man (Magomed Abdurzaev, a note of the 'Caucasian Knot') makes several shots from a pistol from a window of his apartment. In the second video, a [16-year-old] guy opened fire from a pistol in automatic mode," the MIA's officer said.

On April 24, a story involving the detainees was shown in the nightly news of the "Grozny" TV Channel. Magomed Abdurzaev explained the shooting from the window by his joy in connection with death of a negative character of the series, which he was watching at that moment. "I shot in the air with joy. I forgot that shooting is not allowed," the man said.

The second detainee explained that he wanted to check the gas pistol he had bought earlier.

In its story, the Chechen GTRK (State TV and Radio Company) "Grozny" reported that Magomed Abdurzaev would be brought to administrative responsibility, while the 16-year-old teenager had a preventive conversation with policemen.
