Residents of Yerevan celebrate Serzh Sargsyan's resignation (+video)

In Yerevan, hundreds of thousands of people gathered in Republic Square where an opposition rally is held. Protesters celebrate the Serzh Sargsyan's resignation and congratulate each other.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that today, Serzh Sargsyan, who has managed to work only six days as the Prime Minister, has announced his resignation. He has explained that he fulfils the demand of the opposition.

In Yerevan, hundreds of thousands of people gathered in Republic Square to celebrate the victory of the opposition and the resignation of Serzh Sargsyan, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

At the beginning of the rally, Aren Mkrtchyan, a member of the initiative group "Reject Serzh!" read from the platform the Serzh Sargsyan's statement on resignation, in which he recognized the right position of Nikol Pashinyan, the leader of the protesters. The oppositionists have announced that from now on the power belongs to the people and that the civil society in Armenia has formed.
