Defender and Prosecutor visit Magomed Khazbiev on hunger strike in Ingush SIZO

On March 15, advocate Kheda Ibrieva managed to visit Magomed Khazbiev who went on a hunger strike in the Karabulak SIZO (pre-trial prison).

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on March 12, Ingush oppositionist Magomed Khazbiev went on a hunger strike in the Karabulak SIZO (pre-trial prison) in protest against the persecution and conditions of detention.

Magomed Khazbiev, who arrived in Ingushetia from Chechnya, was arrested on January 11 on suspicion of illegal possession of firearms and insulting a law enforcer. On January 25, Khazbiev's advocates said that his state of health had deteriorated in the SIZO; and the activist himself complained about the "fascist" custody conditions.

At the same time with the advocate, Magomed Khazbiev was also visited by Andrei Vasilchenko, Prosecutor of Ingushetia, Djambulat Ozdoev, the human rights commissioner under the Ingush leader, and Ayub Tsurov, the chairman of the Public Monitoring Commission.

"Magomed said that during three years passed since the charge had been filed against him, he repeatedly sent complaints to the Ingush Prosecutor's Office, but never got any answer. Andrei Vasilchenko has said the case is under his personal control," said Kheda Ibrieva, who was present during the conversation.

The main reason for the Magomed Khazbiev's hunger strike was in his claim against the investigation, Djambulat Ozdoev noted.
