Detentions

On March 5, five alleged supporters of the "Islamic State" (IS), a terrorist organization, banned in Russia by the court, were detained in Makhachkala. According to the FSB, the detainees were recruiting radical residents of Dagestan and delivering them to Syria for participating in hostilities on militants' side. They had "incited at least four citizens to leave Russia," who, after leaving, underwent training in militants' field camps and became active participants of their armed formations. At detention of the IS' alleged supporters, firearms, ammunition and "a significant amount of explosives" were confiscated.
