Dagestani inspector accused of taking bribes on Azerbaijani border
An employee of the Dagestani Branch of the "Rosselkhoznadzor" (Russian Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance) has been accused of illegally receiving money from an Azerbaijani driver at the customs checkpoint "Yarag-Kazmalyar".
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 31, 2017, long-distance truck drivers (truckers) held protest at the customs checkpoint on the Dagestani-Azerbaijani border. They complained about extortions, insults and long waiting lines. Then, Vladimir Vasiliev, the acting head of Dagestan, demanded to deal with the situation. On November 8, truckers reported that queues at the border had disappeared, and extortions stopped.
According to investigators, on October 5, 2017, a 36-year-old customs inspector received money for illegal customs clearance of some cargo from Azerbaijan. He spent the received 3000 roubles at his discretion, says the website of the Southern Investigating Department for Transports of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF).
