Armenian Parliament tightens rules of visiting casinos
Today, Armenian MPs have adopted amendments to the law that provide for controlling the age of gamblers, restricting the casino gambling and increasing the fines.
The bill "On Gambling Games, Online Gambling and Casinos" was presented by the "Elk" oppositional bloc, with reference to the broadcast of the sitting by the Parliaments website, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.
Edmon Marukyan, and "Elk" MP, has stated in his speech that the current law provides for an age restriction of 21 years, in practice, there is no mechanisms to control the enforcement of this provision.
In their turn, MPs from the ruling Republican Party of Armenia have proposed to impose a fine on casinos' and other gaming houses' visitors younger than 18.
According to the amendments put forward for MPs' consideration, if a person has been found by the court as having limited legal capacity, the relevant authorities are obliged to warn casino managers about this in order to restrict his/her entry to gambling entities. Besides, it will be possible to limit a credit card account, so that it could not be cashed in the casino or in its vicinity. Amendments also provide for increased fines.
The amendments have been adopted today by MPs in the second and final reading unanimously, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.
