UNM demands making state expenses for Mikhail Saakashvili public
Zaza Bibilashvili, one of the leaders of the opposition "United National Movement" (UNM), has filed an appeal to the administration of the Georgian President with the demand to make public the expenses of the State Security Service for the period for which former Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili is accused of embezzlement.
Earlier, the "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in 2014, former Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili was charged in absentia with embezzlement of budget funds in the amount exceeding 8.8 million laris.
In particular, the opposition mentions that in 2013, Mikhail Saakashvili purchased at the public expense seven jackets and a cashmere coat for the total amount of 50,000 laris (about 19,531 US dollars), booked a well-known massage specialist from Germany and paid restaurant bills, the "sova.news" reports.
On January 15, the opposition "United National Movement" Party appealed to Georgian President Giorgi Margvelashvili with a request to make public the expenses of the State Security Service for the period for which former Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili is accused of embezzlement of the budget funds of the Service. According to the law, the President has ten days to respond to the request.
