Law enforcers report threat of terror acts in Chechnya

In Chechnya, security measures have been enhanced in connection with the information about terror acts in preparation for the New Year's holidays, reports a source of the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent from the Chechen Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA).

For the period from December 24 to January 10, in Chechnya, units of the National Guard of Russia introduced an enhanced regime of service, a Chechen MIA's official reported.

"The information has been received stating that several terrorists, members of the IS (a terrorist organization banned in Russia, note of the 'Caucasian Knot') can make an attempt to enter the republic to commit terror acts. The terrorists have already entered a neighbouring state, where they arrived from Central Asia," explained the MIA's officer.

He has also specified that strategic objects, buildings of ministries and departments, as well as institutions which will host New Year festive events are taken under round-the-clock protection.

In Grozny, near the New Year tree, together with the police, fire-fighters and a medical officer are on duty around the clock, the Chief Department for Chechnya of the Ministry for Emergencies reports.
