Women-protesters in Baku oppose recognition of Jerusalem as Israeli capital

About 20 women, protesting at the US Embassy to Azerbaijan have condemned the decision of US President Donald Trump to treat Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on December 7, the Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) supported the resolution of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict on the basis of the existence of two states with the Palestine's capital in Eastern Jerusalem.

On December 6, Mr Trump stated that "it's time to officially recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel." He also announced preparations for moving US Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

The protest action was organized by Novrasta Ibragimova, the Chair of the Women's Council of the Islamic Party of Azerbaijan (IPA).

According to her story, this was a solidarity action with brotherly Muslims of Palestine. She believes that the US should abolish their decision on Jerusalem and respect Palestinians' rights.

Earlier in Baku, believers repeatedly held anti-Israeli actions.
