Court agrees to resume hearings in Sapiyat Magomedova's lawsuit vs. Ministry of Finance

The Khasavyurt City Court will resume the trial on the lawsuit filed by advocate Sapiyat Magomedova, who was accused of using violence and insulting policemen, to compensate for her illegal criminal prosecution.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported Sapiyat Magomedova claims that on June 17, 2010, she was beaten by Khasavyurt policemen. The policemen claimed Sapiyat Magomedova herself attacked them. The cases were instituted against both sides, but later they were combined and closed. In March 2017, the decision to close the criminal case against Sapiyat Magomedova was recognized as unfounded, and in that connection, Sapiyat Magomedova filed a complaint to the court on May 15.

According to Sapiyat Magomedova, the decision to close the case against her was cancelled in order to delay the trial on her lawsuit against the Russian Ministry of Finance, filed in January. The advocate demands to pay her 3.5 million roubles in compensation for property and moral injury for unlawful criminal prosecution.

Sapiyat Magomedova notes that on June 19, investigators again closed the criminal proceedings against her. "In connection with the termination of the criminal proceedings against me, I request the court to resume the trial on my lawsuit for compensation for my injuries," Sapiyat Magomedova told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

On November 29, the advocate filed a relevant request to the court. Today, the Khasavyurt City Court reported that the consideration of the case was scheduled for December 12.
